After analyzing the recorded energy spectrum from the log, the radioactive content of the surrounding formation can be evaluated. The most typical use for this tool is to measure the natural formation content of Uranium (U), Thorium (Th), and Potassium (K). With Hotwell’s proprietary software you can accurately characterize the mineralogy of the surrounding formation and remove the masking effects of extraneous radiation from productive intervals. The tool has been thoroughly characterized and corrected for borehole and casing size. The gamma ray detector is a NaI scintillation crystal (1.96” ø X 11.8” L). The External temperature sensor and Casing Collar Locator are integrated in the tool.
